The Country Club area is one of Mill Valley’s most sought after neighborhoods, and for good reason. Encompassing a small valley and the ridges surrounding it, it offers a nice combination of trees and sun, and hills and flats, with many charming vintage homes on generous lots and a great location close to downtown. The area got its name from the golf course running through it that was a private country club during the 1920s and 1930s. The city bought it in 1939 after membership declined, and it’s still the County’s only municipal course, open to the public and with pretty reasonable green fees. The area offers access to excellent hiking, and at the end of many streets you’ll find trails leading up to Mt. Tam. This neighborhood also is home to the Mill Valley Tennis Club which has a nice pool and clubhouse. Next to the Tennis club is Boyle Park, which is a great place to take the kids, both two and four legged.
